This seems like an awesome bike, and I kinda want a dual sport. It's only $4,199, which is a nice price for a DS.

I dont see spending 4200 bucks on a 199cc when I can get a BMW G650GS for 7100 though!

or even better: a USED G650 GS for $5300... with less than 5000 miles on it... Though, as an F650 GS owner, I can say it IS a little bulky for serious of-road work, and the suspension isn't as well sorted off-pavement as that of the DR. The DRs are fun little bikes, they have excellent chassis and suspensions and the engines are reliable and powerful enough given the low weight, but the transmission on every one I've ever ridden feels like crushing rocks with the shifter and stirring partially-set epoxy with the clutch. Ick. Also, the stock brakes are not super excellent, though that's easily and affordably remedied.

lol good review. I like small displacement bikes, hell I ride around a 58 Vespa in the summer, but if I was to go used I have always lusted after an F650GS Dakar like nothing else

I'm a little too short for the Dakar, hell I'm actually a little too short for the GS ;) I mean, I suppose I could a get a lowering kit, but then I've lost that usable ground clearance, which was pretty much the entire reason to get the bike in the first place :P Well, that and bullet-proof reliability, super comfortable riding position, huge after-market/club support, and the ability to say "Why yes, I do own a BMW..." in social/business situations where being a douche-bag is actually to your advantage...

I'm currently trying arrange a day-long ride of a Triumph Tiger 800 XC to see if it's really worth incurring debt for or not... but I wants it, yes.. precious....

if you ever want a review on the Tiger I have a good friend who LOVES hers. Rides out on 3 month adventures every year and it has never failed.

hmmm, yeah the old stripey Tigers few and far between in the used market, and they're all pretty expensive too. :/ The NEW Tiger 800 XC looks awfully nice and checks a lot of boxes for me, but without a full day ride both on and off pavement I just can't commit to the $12,000 one costs new or the over $9000 all the used one seem to be going for...

Do Bmw bikes require Bmw maintenance? Haha
